3 Fundamentals to Scale Your Teams

There are three fundamentals that are required to make it possible to scale your teams, create consistent customer experiences, and avoid (very) common friction points:
1

Data
2

Systems
3

Documentation
Let’s break each one down a bit.

Data

Data may sound a little scary, but the main idea is to create a single truth source for any information you or your team needs. For example, make sure your customer data is located in one place (instead of many locations) or eliminate older versions of documents so that the newest one is the version everyone is using. By having a single source of truth, you will be eliminating a lot of confusion, questions, and mistakes.

Systems

A single source of information (your data) makes building repeatable and scalable systems much more manageable. Templates should power systems, so you have a simple, repeatable process that references the correct data sources. Build these templates in your work management system to where you can have all the steps you need to complete the task right there.

Documentation

Regardless of how good and clean your data and systems are, you won’t get anywhere without excellent (read: usable) documentation. Everything is fast-paced these days and people need to skim, so write your documentation with that in mind.

As your data and systems improve, don’t forget to update your documentation. If you’re using a platform like Arvo, you’ll only need to update the playbook in one place and the changes will be reflected in all instances of it, regardless of where they are linked or embedded.
